Rapper DaBaby Played a Show With State Champs and Emo Nite
Superstar rapper DaBaby played a surprise show Tuesday (Jan. 14) alongside pop-punk stalwarts State Champs and a DJ set from Emo Nite. The performances took place at the Keystone Resort and Conference Center in Keystone, Colorado, as part of the Zumiez 100K, a special event put on by the retailer.
That's according to a tweet that night from State Champs singer Derek DiScanio, who shared an image of the concert's lineup a few hours before showtime. ("Tonight!" he said. "Surprise!") See that message along with fan-captured videos of the concert down toward the bottom of this post.
The annual Zumiez 100K is an event that celebrates and rewards the multinational specialty clothing store's top employees for the year. It "recognizes outstanding sales performance in a resort setting that combines recreation and education," as described in a 2006 SEC filing from the company.
DaBaby is the breakout Charlotte, North Carolina-based rapper who's scored major hip-hop hits with tunes such as "Bop," "Intro" and "Suge," all three released in 2019. Every track from his latest album, Kirk, landed on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, as XXL reported last year.
State Champs, of course, are a long-running rock band from New York who've released three albums since forming a decade ago. Those are Living Proof (2018), Around the World and Back (2015) and The Finer Things (2013).
The popular emo and pop-punk music and DJ event Emo Nite L.A. was "started by three friends at a small dive bar" and has since "grown into a full-blown phenomenon," per the outfit's official website.
