There's no reason to doubt that Jonny Craig is earnestly attempting to sell an old MacBook via his Instagram Story. After all, the troubled musician and former vocalist of bands such as Slaves, Emarosa and Dance Gavin Dance insists he's not joking in the Story shared Monday (Jan. 13).

But in the series of three images, Craig seems to sense that those viewing the laptop for sale may find the situation funny. Still, he offers a seemingly serious proposition to either sell or trade the computer. He adds that potential buyers can contact him once any perceived humor has run its course.

See some screenshots of the proposal down toward the bottom of this post.

"Brand new macbook pro15 inch 2017," Craig writes atop a photo of the laptop. "Its 2018 it [was] bought in fucking dec days before the new year. i have all specs this isnt a joke. i have 9000$ pc and this is a [paperweight.] I used it to play diablo on one tour. interested please send me an email after all the jokes die down."

In the following two Stories, the musician adds that he's "also looking to barter for some studio headphones and a [homemade] vocal [booth]" to "trade for the Mac." Further, he's willing to "trade for shoes."

The reason some may find this unnervingly comical is due to an incident in late 2010 and early 2011 when Craig, then in Emarosa, was accused of scamming the group's fans by falsely selling MacBooks via Twitter, as Mind Equals Blown reported at the time. Back then, the musician claimed that his account was hacked, and those who purportedly sent in money to purchase a computer never received one.

Around this time last year, Craig stepped away from Slaves after reportedly relapsing in his battle with addiction. In 2018, he was arrested after a show in Arizona. Since then, former The Voice contestant Matt McAndrew has taken his place at vocalist in the California post-hardcore band.
